How Does Nonsurgical Laser Liposuction Work?
Looking for an easy way to reduce stubborn fat deposits without undergoing the knife? Find out how nonsurgical laser liposuction can work for you.

You’ve been eating a healthy diet. You’ve been working out regularly. You’ve even been skipping your cheat day, you’re so committed.

And yet you still have pockets of stubborn fat deposits that just won’t go away, no matter how targeted your workouts get.

Certain areas of your body (including your abdomen, thighs, arms, and chin) are just resistant to any attempts to lose weight, no matter what you try.

At Phillips Family Medical, Pamela Phillips, Ph.D., FNP-C, and our team have another option: nonsurgical laser liposuction, a minimally invasive, nonsurgical method for targeting those trouble spots.

What is nonsurgical laser liposuction?

Nonsurgical laser liposuction, also called laser lipolysis, is an in-office body contouring procedure that uses laser energy to destroy targeted fat cells without damaging surrounding tissue. During the procedure, we place a specialized applicator on your skin’s surface over the targeted area, emitting laser wavelengths that pass through your skin into your fat cells.

The heat from the lasers damages the cell membranes of the fat cells, releasing their contents,  which include fatty acids, triglycerides, and water, so your body’s natural metabolic processes eliminate them over time.

The laser energy also stimulates the production of collagen and elastin in the surrounding tissue, which leads to a tightening and firming of your skin.

What results can you expect?

The procedure usually lasts about a half hour. You may feel a cooling sensation along with a slight tingling. No needles or incisions are necessary, so there’s no downtime afterwards. You can immediately go about the rest of your day.

Results aren’t immediate because your body takes time to process and eliminate the fat that has been released from your cells. Nonsurgical laser liposuction delivers more of a gradual improvement in your body’s contour. You can see initial results in about six weeks, with final results at about three months.

You can also maximize your results by maintaining a healthy diet and staying active and hydrated.

Is it right for you?

Remember that nonsurgical laser liposuction is a body contouring procedure, not a magic weight loss solution. It works best as part of an overall healthy lifestyle, not a stand-alone treatment.

So if you’re looking for a noninvasive way to get rid of a few stubborn fat deposits without undergoing surgery, laser liposuction may be a great option for you. If you’re interested, our team at Phillips Family Medical will be happy to meet with you to discuss how the procedure might fit your goals and lifestyle.
